The Ministry of Home, Government of India is currently implementing a pilot project to issue multipurpose national ID cards to about 2.85 million people in 24 districts of 13 border and coastal states of the country to reduce infiltration and strengthen internal security. The government has also taken the lead in the introduction of smart cards for delivering healthcare & social security services to its citizens. These cards are in use in many countries around the world including most European countries, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand etc. Exhibitions India has been instrumental in providing a forum to enunciate this very endeavour.
